Lunch and learn

The Digital Marketing Den course will run over a period of 6 weeks, through live virtual training sessions on Wednesday lunchtimes.

Each week we’ll cover a different area of digital marketing. Through inspiring real world examples, you’ll learn not only the principles of digital marketing but how to apply them effectively to create real business impact.

Although there will be a focus on a specific channel each week, we’ll weave in information on audiences, channel roles and channel interplay, so that by the end of the course, you’ll be able to take an integrated approach to your digital marketing efforts.

The Digital Marketing Den course

Beginning on 17 April 2024, this course will run for 6 consecutive Wednesdays, up to and including 22 May.

The live session each Wednesday will run from 12:00 – 14:00.

And here’s what we’ll cover:

Week 1: Secrets to good web design

How people consume websites and why that matters to design, what makes a good website including sustainability, design, content, user experience and accessibility, and what to measure to monitor success.

Week 2: An intro to SEO

An overview of how SEO works, the differences between online, offline and technical SEO, the best approaches and practical tips for reaching the top spots on Google.

Week 3: Getting social

An overview of when and how to use social media effectively. We’ll cover the differences between the platforms and the audiences they serve, helping you to understand which platforms to use and which formats to leverage, and when.

Week 4: Email marketing essentials

From opt in to conversion, we’ll take you through customer journey planning, legislative requirements, audience segmentation, subject lines that create click-through, and copywriting that converts.

Week 5: An introduction to PPC

With a focus on Google Adwords, we’ll take you through where to start, when to start and how to set yourself up for long-term PPC success.

Week 6: Getting started with digital advertising

Which platforms to use, when, formats and audience targeting options.

Ellie has 20 years’ experience working in digital marketing.

Her most recent role was as Head of Digital Marketing for the National Trust, where over a 7 year period, she led a team of talented digital marketers to achieve transformative growth in digital audiences and unprecedented growth in digital revenues.

Now a digital marketing consultant, she has trained the digital marketing teams for multiple well-loved brands including Go Ape and The Woodland Trust.
